James W. Lambert's works begin with crowd scenes, incorporating images that become abstracted, vibrating with the energy of people coming together.

From rock concerts to casual get-togethers, street protests to crowded swimming pools, Lambert's oil paintings have portrayed people coming together, drawn to each other as a most natural human condition. As we begin to step out of our pandemic isolation, Lambert's work embraces and abstracts that energy in his new paintings.
From James W. Lambert: "When we join together, we become something greater than our individual selves, something slightly abstract and mysterious. In my recent series, the changing climate and how life on earth is being impacted by the human species occupies my thoughts as I paint. The works begin with crowd scenes, trying to incorporate an image that encompasses the amazing variety of people within humanity. To illustrate how we join together and work together, we become something greater than our individual selves and slightly abstract and mysterious. Art can, and should, decorate our lives, but it should also inspire and trigger original thinking."
James earned an MFA (1989) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
