We will look at tondos in history, from mandalas to figurative and geometric compositions including Yayoi Kusama and Kandinsky. In this class, we will look at composition, as well as provide a circular substrate to paint or print, including templates to personalize your own mandala.
The circle is a universal symbol with extensive meaning. It represents the notions of totality, wholeness, original perfection, the Self, the infinite, eternity, timelessness, all cyclic movement and feminine energy.
AIR will be hosting the "Full Circle" show in conjunction with the Chicago chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art in October. This class would be a great time to create an entry!
